Passenger traffic in the domestic market of Russia restores actively, however, on international routes the situation remains uncertain, the representative of the S7 Airlines said, reported by Izvestia newspaper.
He also added that the pace of the restoration of passenger traffic is quite low.
Earlier this day, the Federal Air Transport Agency reported that the passenger traffic of Russian airlines in February of this year decreased by 37% compared to the same period of 2020. It was also noted that passenger traffic last month decreased by 51% and amounted to 10.22 billion passengers.
At the same time, the agency pointed out that in February, the Pobeda Airlines celebrated the growth of air carriage – it served 845 thousand passengers, which is 3% higher than this month 2020.
In turn, 1.06 million passengers were carried by Siberia air carriers in February, which is 15% less compared to the volume for the same period of the past. Aeroflot last month transported 993 thousand passengers (-60%), Ural Airlines – 403 thousand passengers (-33%), and the Rossiya airline – 400 thousand passengers (-21%).
On March 12, the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Alexander Neradko said that, despite the minor deterioration in the financial and economic situation in carriers, the Russian airlines do not have signs of bankruptcy.
In the afternoon, the Deputy General Director of Aeroflot said that the internal air transportation market in Russia can recover in the second half of 2022 – early 2023.
Regular and charter flights were suspended by Russia in March due to the situation with coronavirus. Later, gradually restrictions on air traffic with a number of states were filmed.
